Trunk or Treat

Halloween is coming in hot (or cold) on Saturday, October 31. People from all across the country will be dressing up as their favorite characters and knocking on doors for trick or treating. Some events are going on around Kidder Country, such as the annual Trunk or Treat, which is being hosted at the track around the football field on Friday, October 30 with community members and local businesses joining in on the fun.

Mrs. Steiger, the coordinator of Trunk or Treat for 2026 said, “We’re doing it right after school this year because most classrooms are having their Halloween party, so they’ll already be dressed in costume and ready to celebrate.”

Last week was a short week with the students of Kidder County School being dismissed at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, so that teachers could prepare for Parent-Teacher conferences that night. This week is a full week of school with Halloween on Saturday.

On Saturday, October 24, Driscoll hosted a Truck or Treat, and on Sunday, October 25, Tuttle also hosted a Truck or Treat behind the school at the gym door entrance. They also served coffee, cider, and pie.

Students from Kidder County shared their thoughts about why they like Halloween.

“It’s spooky!” Senior Jaiden Millage said. “I also like how I can dress up for Halloween and go get candy, and I can be up late during the night. It's just so much fun. It's one of my favorite times during the year!”

Eighth grader Derek Dammel, another Halloween enthusiast, shared his thoughts. “I like candy corn, and when we do the haunted maze at the rink, it’s so fun!” Dammel said.

When out on the streets this Halloween, be sure to watch out for trick-or-treaters who will be walking around in their costumes as they might be a little hard to see while driving. Have fun out there!
