In 2026, storms in the U.S. have been getting worse. There have been around 1,180 confirmed tornados from January to August, with over 44 confirmed in North Dakota alone.
Mr. Taghon, the Kidder County High School English teacher, shared his thoughts about this subject.
“I feel like the bad weather just happens in cycles, some summers we get breaks, and some summers they hype up,” he explained. “I feel they just go in waves.”
With the thunderstorm season for North Dakota not being quiet over yet, the threat of a strong storm is still imminent.
Senior Jahily Rodriguez shared her thoughts on the damage that storms have caused her and her family this year.
“We got trees that broke, they fell on our ceiling, and a tin bin was blown away by the wind,” Rodriguez said.
As we head into the fall, the storm season for 2026 is beginning to die down, but storms can still happen until winter.
